Western is back after the holiday hiatus, heading to Salt Lake City to take on the University of Utah Utes, marking the first PAC-8 games since late October for the Vikings.

Before the break, the Vikings played a pair of games with the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Despite a strong start on Friday, including a pair of goals from Teddy Prior, Gonzaga continued to score in bunches and capitalized on Vikings defensive miscues. The Bulldogs pulled away late, winning 9-6.

Four first period goals from the Bulldogs set up their continuing successes into Saturday, taking down the Vikings once more, 7-4.

Coach Adam Segaar wanted his team to better dictate the pace, “The spark was there, the want was there. They’ve shown they have the physicality inside them, but we as a team have to focus on that physicality more.”

Western plays two with the Utah, both Friday and Saturday at 3:30 P.M. at Salt Lake City Sports Complex. They then follow by heading to Moscow, ID, to take on the Washington State Cougars.
